June 2016 [Monthly Wrap Up]

June 2016 [Monthly Wrap Up]
Happy Sunday everyone!
Welcome to my pretty late wrap up post. I hope you enjoy it anyway xD
So… life lately. I haven’t been around the blogging realm a lot and I think you’ve probably noticed. Or maybe you haven’t – which is perfectly okay too. I have fallen head over heels in love with instagram and the snapchat (I’m ocatastrophe there. Add me!) bookish community which means I haven’t been around here an awful lot. All my time goes into those two and making videos for my channel. Which means I have been neglecting my blog. Which is a shame, in my opinion, because this blog was what was made first. I contemplated giving up blogging but I have ultimately decided I am going to continue working on it. I’m going to be coming back, I promise!
Also, the Fantasy Favourites Read-a-thon for 2016 started today! Yay! I’ve been reading a lot already and it makes me happy πŸ˜€ I have had the habit of starting a lot of books and just not finishing them… so hopefully with this read-a-thon I can finish up all those books I’ve started and enjoy reading some new ones too.

As for the difficult period I was having last month or the month before, things have cleared right up. I’m mostly getting enough sleep nowadays and feel like myself again ^.^ Thank you for all the people who asked me about it.
I had exams this month – and I passed them all. Some went really well, and one of them I literally passed by the skin of my teeth (maths, if you were wondering. Those pesky numbers…)
I went out to dinner with some friends, and also out to dinner with my mother once. With friends I saw Independence Day: Resurgence which was surprisingly a really good movie. Maybe the first one is still my favourite but this one did a pretty good job of it too.
My other older sister is back from Paris and staying with us for two whole months. We’re having writing sessions, working on finding her a literary agent for her novel and just enjoying each others company.
I have been planning a lot of posts and videos which I can’t wait to get out there. On instagram I reached 1000 followers (I have a giveaway over there which you should all enter!) and was chosen to be a rep for Inspire Fandom as well, which made my day. Be ready to see an unboxing video and also post coming up soon.

We had a school trip to Amsterdam which was nice, and I got to visit a bookshop. Oh, and then there was also me getting my hair done all in singles… which took forever! But I love the results πŸ˜€
Lastly, I started The Review Chain which is a blog tour/review company. Interested in receiving books to review? Head over there to see how to become a part of the team.

I read six books last month. The Cleansweep Conspiracy by Chuck Waldon, The Reluctant Sacrifice by Kerr-Ann Dempster and The Way to Game the Walk of Shame by Jenn P. Nguyen are all books I wrote reviews for.
The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey turned out to be pretty good! I’m not saying too much about it because I have a review upcoming for that one. I watched the movie afterwards which was terrible…
Twilight: The Graphic Novel Part 2 by Young Kim and Stephanie Meyer which I just loved as much as part 1. Gorgeous pictures and so well adapted.
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro was okay. It was clever, but pretty slow paced which left me with mixed feelings. I studied it for school.

You may or may not recognise this photo from my Fantasy Favourites Read-a-thon TBR and intro post. Needless to say, what I plan to read throughout this week is pretty much my main reading goal of the month.

  • Oh gosh, you sound like you've had a crazy busy month! I'm glad you're feeling better and that your exams are done and over with :). Good luck with everything that you have going on! Ellen and I are talking about doing booktube as well, so if we don't see you on your blog, we will definitely visit you on your youtube channel πŸ™‚

  • Oh, dear. I hope you will not quit, Olivia. You are one of the sweetest, most prolific book blogger I know. It would be a shame not to read your thoughts one of these days. πŸ™ Please don't go…

  • I'm so behind on all things blogging. I've been reading, but that's about it. My vacation was cut short, but I'm still gonna use my other days that I took off for this week to catch up on housework and anything else. I probably won't post anything this week. Depends on how I feel.

  • Hmmm. Looks like I've missed a few of your posts. Sounds like things are turning around for you … in a good way. Glad to hear it. We're pretty much sticking close to home this summer. πŸ™‚

  • Hi Olivia,

Good to know you're starting to feel better. Congratulations on passing your exams and starting a new blog! I never liked exams much. πŸ˜€

Continuing blogging or not, is your decision and you know what's best for you. I'd like it if you wouldn't give up blogging; slow down or take a break, it might help you understand or come up with a good strategy to continue. I took yearlong blogging break to clear my head and decide if I wanted to continue.

I'm finding Instagram addictive and I'm not even into sharing pics. πŸ™‚

    Take care. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Priya! Exams can be a menace but what can I say? Everyone has to go through them. I've been pretty slow lately so I guess it's time to pick things up a little and through doing that, see if it is still for me. I hope it is! Thanks for connecting with me through instagram too πŸ™‚

  • Congrats on passing your exams! And it's great you found so many other things that hold your interest, although I am glad you decided to keep blogging, I love reading your posts! <3
By the way, your hair looks amazing!! πŸ˜€

  • Glad you're back! I have definitely noticed you haven't been around much lately. Looks like you had a great month though, otherwise. And I love the hair! So much fun to get our hair done! I'm going to see my hairdresser in a week or so, and I am going to re-do the red in it, but I really kinda want her to do like some blonde streaks in it too. She knows what is good, so I'll go with what she thinks though. I am on Instagram, but I don't think I'll ever join Snapchat. Too many social media outlets for me! πŸ™‚ Hope July goes good for you!

    • It's always nice to know someone has noticed <3 I love getting my hair changed, even if it does take a while πŸ˜‰ Ooh I would love to know what it looks like afterwards! It sounds like such an interesting mix <3

  • Congratz on passing ur exams Olivia πŸ™‚ Hair – brill! I want long hair πŸ˜‰
Just finished first book from Clockwork Vampire Chronicles – thinking about writing small review on my blog about it πŸ™‚

  • Oh congrats on passing all you exams (especially maths)! Your hair looks really good, I know it takes a long time but it is worth it.
You seems really busy with, well, life, but I think it is great that you still make time to read and run a read-a-thon, and Booktube! That is awesome I don't have anything special planned for July, just trying to enjoy all the awesomeness that happened last month. I may go on some more motorcycle rides though. Anyways, have a great July!

    • Thank you Karen! I'm happy to be doing more in life because last month all I wanted to do was be at home and hang around there xD I hope you enjoy July and have a few more motorcycle rides! Ride safely πŸ˜‰

  • You seemed to have had quite a hard time these past couple of months but I'm happy to hear you feel much better know. And CONGRATULATIONS on passing all your exams (I hated maths as well when I was in school… I still do lol)
I completely understand your feelings towards blogging and if on top of that you're working hard on Instagram and your Youtube channel, it's completely normal you're feeling a bit overwhelmed.
June was also a bit stressful for me but I can say I'm free now. I have nothing planned for July; I just wanna enjoy my holidays doing whatever one day at a time πŸ™‚

    • Yes, things have definitely gotten better ^.^ Thank you Noelia <3 I don't know how I feel with blogging but for now I'm just gonna keep doing it and see where things end up? I hope you enjoy the holiday and manage to rest and relax!

  • Looks like you had quite a lovely month!! Congrats on your exams! I actually LOVE math but science is my worst enemy πŸ˜‹ I have a month busy with writing, writing and more writing but I'm happy about it!! Have an awesome July!

    • It certainly did have a lot of good times! You should come and write my maths exams for me next year πŸ˜‰ I don't mind earth sciences (which is what I do at the moment) too much though! Yay for writing!

  • Don't give up blogging – I need enough people to bug πŸ˜‰ Well done with the exams!!!!! And Maths sucks. And involves imaginary numbers. And not the good kind of imaginary. πŸ˜‰

  • Oh no, you shouldn't give up on blogging ! I really love reading your posts ^^
Well I'm glad you actually liked the 5th Wave, I plan on reading it this summer so I can finally watch the movie.
Ah exams, I think we should be really glad that they're over :))
